Same Old, Same Old

I'm not looking forward to this election probably mainly due to the fact that there simply just isn't anyone worth voting for from among the current parties in government, they are frankly all the same. Every election cycle we either get National or Labour in power and really the question is now - What's the difference between the two? It has long been established that they never come up with any decent ideas, look at our last Prime Minister as an example; for eight years in office what was the best he could provide - A ridiculous campaign on "Let's change the flag"??? What a complete and utter waste of time and money that was, mind you that is what you get when idiots are in office.
I happened to be watching an interview the other day which had Paula Bennett and Jacinda Ardern (now new leader of the Labour party) pitched against each other and after watching 5 minutes of absolute drivel I was struck by the fact that you could put either one in the opposition party and they would be right at home. You could actually call them Red National and Blue Labour they are so alike, it is getting very difficult to separate the two parties now, they look and sound so similar...
Perhaps the only party in parliament which is decidedly different is the Green Party but for all the wrong reasons. There is no doubt their agenda is very sinister and no pun intended barking up the wrong tree; they do make a difference, but, it is not with your welfare in mind. Should they hold power with Labour this year, you can kiss goodbye our country. Aside from the fact that they are full of nut-jobs, their agenda will destroy everything you hold dear. The environment is simply a front for what they really want to achieve in power, but more on this later. I can hear some people yelling, "but what about NZ First?" What about them I say? Winston Peters has been in Parliament for so long now he is a part of the furniture but what has he really achieved after all these year's? I can only credit him for three things:
- The Winebox inquiry
- Gold Card
Not a lot really when you see how long he has been there; on a measuring scale of actual results for the time he has been in office he would score a -28. Lot's of hot air and disruption in the chambers but very little else to show for 35+ years and no, in case you were wondering there is nothing worth mentioning from the rest of the NZ First party list.
This year you can look forward to more of the same, promise after promise but actually no delivering on those promises. All of our politicians trot out the same boring crap every election cycle which is just enough to ensure they retain office and continue to milk the taxpayer to fund their retirement. Wake up people, they are not there to make a positive difference and only have their self-interest at heart. It is all about power and wanting it, craving it, and more importantly, holding on to it. We are suckers for this game and have very short memories when it comes to our politicians and parties. Our mentality of "she'll be right" just doesn't wash anymore, we need a thorough clean out of our parliament and MP's.
