Raise Your Own Child Jacinda

We have had a bit of feedback here at www.itsgonepolitical.com in regards to our new Prime Minister and the news of her pregnancy. You have been asking for our opinion and to be frank we were not going to comment on this event as we simply didn't think it was newsworthy enough or important enough to warrant a blog post.
However, due to your requests here are our thoughts on the matter:

  1. As New Zealanders we don't want to help raise your child Jacinda. That is your job and your partner Clarke's job. Don't abdicate your responsibility by saying we are going to help. Why should we? We had no say in the decision and it will never be our child so, frankly, bugger off and do what every responsible parent does, raise your own children with love and care and don't rely on New Zealanders to help you out. (Yes, we support helping the very desperate in need but you are not one of them)
  2. Honesty and Transparency - You should have informed us about the pregnancy as soon as you knew, it would have been the honest and transparent thing to do. It could well have changed the outcome of the election. We are not going to stand here and judge you, but, seriously you have the most important job in the country and you think this is not going to impact it in some way? For those of you who have had children you will understand this, for those of you who haven't, you have no idea.
  3. We talk to lots of employers (female and male) and it is a very common thread that this is the number one thing that really annoys them and ends up costing their business a lot of money. Little wonder most of them are very hesitant to employ women in the "danger age range". Not very PC but we never are, however, this is reality. If you doubt it, go and talk to a business owner.
  4. Having the "village" raise your child is a recipe for disaster and is simply an underlying communist thread which says the state knows best. The facts are, the state does not know best; look how dysfunctional and probably the worst performing government department CYFS is, they don't solve problems they only make them bigger. With child abuse, sexual violation, violence in and out of the home, paedophilia, gender brain-washing, and, a whole host of other social issues massively on the increase here in New Zealand you definitely don't want the "village" raising your child.
  5. Paid parental leave - As taxpayer's are we going to fork out for this and should you be allowed six weeks leave? The law would say you do, however, in our opinion earning over $400k per year we would have thought this unnecessary, and, in this day and age of empowerment for women we would have thought you would be back in the job almost immediately after birth with your little one. To our mind it should not impact the job whatsoever and our expectation would be for you to be back in the "hot seat" very quickly. This is in no way belittling or minimising the enormous energy required to have a baby but it is only fair and reasonable to expect you to meet your obligations and our requirements as PM, the majority didn't vote you into office and we imagine they certainly wouldn't have wanted a pregnant PM on their hands. It seems you have put your own selfish wants above that of your country which in your position should never happen.
  6. Finally, because we want to move on to much more important issues at hand it doesn't matter to us that you are pregnant. What matters is that your decision and subsequent pregnancy is now going to affect us all whether we like it or not. The other issue for us too is that you and your incompetent government will still be running our country. Having Winston as fill-in PM will only make matters worst.
