Robbing Peter to Save Paul, Mary, Joe ...

How the Government want to tax you more...

Under the current government here in New Zealand their favourite thing to do is to appoint a committee or working group to review everyone and everything and anything that they deem requires a review. Not only is this a very costly business, (the taxpayer is being robbed blind) but it also helps the politicians avoid making a decision on absolutely anything as they always default back to the review and basically hide behind it.

A classic case of this but with a lot more sinister intent behind it is The Tax Working Group headed up by none other than Scrooge Mcduck Michael Cullen. (We don't acknowledge the Sir in his name because frankly he doesn't deserve it)

Under his guidance as Minister of Finance, New Zealanders were taxed heavily and he built up an absolute mammoth war chest of billions of $$$ and poured it into election lollies, welfare and other behemoths to essentially make more Kiwi's reliant on the government.
This group is simply another name to find ways to tax you the taxpayer more.
We see a CGT (Capital Gains Tax) coming, (Cullen was always a fan of a CGT) social taxes like emission rates hike and anything to appease the rampaging, tree-hugging Greens. You can guarantee that your living costs are going to go higher and your regular paycheck is going to feel lighter and there will be less money in your back-pocket, and it will have no impact whatsoever on the environment, but rather fill the overflowing coffers of the government. Pure greed and idealism is at the heart of the matter, nothing less.

We have been very vocal about our disapproval of this current government, it is obvious to see that they are incompetent and simply not up to the task of running a country, but frankly also the National Party are really no better.
To get through a GFC they simply borrowed large sums of money and increased immigration to off-set the downturn in the global economy. In fact, in the main it was hard-working Kiwi's that through circumstances beyond their control, had to tighten their belts and wallets and cautiously worked their way through the crisis, generally weathering the storm quite well.

Government on the other hand simply does not know how to do this and their default setting is when the going gets tough, they set up groups such as the The Working Group to find more ways to generate revenue and avoid the elephant in the room of actually doing something unique and novel, like can we suggest, reducing expenditure.

Folks, we have a problem and it is our political system and the constant and regular changing of governments. We no longer have a democracy and it is very difficult to elect a majority/popular government with MMP.
The rise of the minority parties through their extreme viewpoints and crazy idealism are determined to make your life a living hell.

Real change happens in small steps and you can start that change by committing to electing individuals who have credibility, values and principles that they are prepared to stand by. Like Trump, we need to "drain the swamp" in Wellington and start electing representatives who are not driven by greed and self-interest, but rather moving our country and it's citizens forward, and one that rewards hard-work and endeavour rather than penalising it through more and more taxes.
